Annual Conference on Empirical Legal Studies 2026

The conference was held at Northwestern Pritzker School of Law, located at 420 E Superior St, Chicago, IL 60611.

Empirical legal researchers from across the legal academy were expected to attend, including faculty and scholars conducting empirical research in law.

Sessions were scheduled to span administrative law, AI and privacy, antitrust and intellectual property, bankruptcy and corporate finance, civil procedure, constitutional law, contracts, corporate law and securities regulation, courts and judging, and sustainability and food and animal law.

It is most useful for law professors, social scientists and graduate students who present or follow empirical research, since the program spanned topics from administrative law and antitrust to courts and judging, corporate and securities law, and AI and privacy.

Attendees at academic law and social science conferences usually wear business casual, such as slacks, a sweater or an open-collar shirt, with few suits. Chicago in early October can be cool and windy, so a jacket is useful for walking between buildings.
