California Optometric Association Monterey Symposium 2026 took place October 23–25, 2026.
It was held at Monterey Marriott Hotel & Conference Center.
The continuing education and Food for Thoughts sessions were designated for ODs only. Guests and staff could attend the Welcome Reception.
It was most useful for California optometrists who needed state-accepted CE, since the courses were for ODs only, the CE was authorized by the California State Board of Optometry, and speakers included faculty from the University of Houston and UC Berkeley optometry schools. Paraoptometric staff would have gotten less from it, since the courses were closed to them and they could only attend the Welcome Reception and exhibit hall with a guest badge. Optometrists licensed elsewhere should have checked that their state board accepted the CE, because it was not COPE approved.
Optometrists at state association CE meetings usually wear business casual, with slacks and a collared shirt or blouse, and a light jacket for Monterey evenings in October.
