The organizer identifies toy soldier collectors and figure converters among the audience.
It is worth it for military miniature painters, sculptors and toy soldier collectors, since the Military Miniature Society of Illinois runs it as a juried exhibition of painted and sculpted miniature work rather than a competition, and its members share critiques and how-to knowledge through the year. Anyone looking for a professional or business-oriented event will get little from it, as it is a hobbyist society's annual show at a suburban Marriott in Schaumburg.
Hobbyist collectors at miniature shows usually wear casual clothes such as jeans and a polo or a club shirt, with comfortable shoes for browsing display tables.
