It is most useful for runners picking up race materials and browsing before the full marathon, half marathon or relay, which start along Baxter Boulevard in Portland, and the race is in its 35th edition. Those not running or supporting a runner would get less, as the expo is a one-day adjunct to the race, though the nonprofit angle, with over $8,900,000 donated, may appeal to supporters.
Runners at marathon expos usually wear athletic wear and comfortable sneakers, often with race shirts from earlier events. Early October in Portland, Maine is cool, so a light jacket or layer is sensible.
