Mid-South Sociological Association Annual Conference 2026

It takes place at Embassy Suites by Hilton Huntsville in Huntsville, Alabama.

The organizer identifies sociologists, graduate students and colleagues among the meeting's audience.

It is most useful for sociology faculty and graduate students in the region who want to present work in areas such as criminology, gender, disaster and immigration studies, and to get informal feedback from colleagues. The professional-growth panels on teaching, tenure and graduate applications make it a good fit for early-career scholars and students, while senior researchers seeking a large national audience would likely get more from a national association meeting.

Academics at regional sociology meetings usually wear business casual, such as slacks, a sweater or an open-collar shirt, with a blazer for presentations. Graduate students presenting papers tend to dress slightly more formally than the audience, and a hotel conference setting in Huntsville in mid-October is comfortable with light layers.
