Surgeon Scientist Career Development Conference 2026

It was held at UPenn Jordan Medical Education Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The intended audience was early, mid, and late career transplant surgeon-scientists; residents and medical students were welcome.

It was most useful for early and mid-career transplant surgeons who were trying to protect research time alongside a clinical load, since the program was skills-oriented, with a career development track on Saturday and hands-on breakout sessions. The two-day format at a single university venue suited a focused workshop; surgeons outside transplant, or those wanting a broad scientific meeting with large abstract sessions, would get less from it. Senior faculty from the Penn Transplant Institute were scheduled to open the program, which gave junior attendees access to established transplant investigators, and residents and medical students were also welcome.
