It takes place at Hilton Austin Airport in Austin, Texas.
The association identifies music schools and departments, colleges and universities, and individual music departments among the groups connected to its work.
It is most useful for music faculty and administrators at Texas colleges and universities, since the association's stated purposes centre on cooperation between member institutions, curriculum exchange and a forum on music in higher education in the state. Those outside Texas higher education, or seeking a large exhibit-driven show, would get less from it, as this is a regional association meeting with a membership focus.
Music faculty at academic association meetings usually wear business casual, such as slacks or skirts with a blazer or sweater, and a hotel meeting near the airport suits that.
