Annual Meeting of Pacific Association for the Continental Tradition 2026

The meeting takes place at the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo.

The organizer identifies conference participants as attendees and invites people interested in continental thinking to take part.

It is worth attending for academic philosophers and graduate students working in continental thought who want a small, discussion-driven meeting on the West Coast, since the organizer states it exists for philosophical dialogue and takes continental philosophy in a broad sense. The conference theme is chosen by vote of the previous meeting's participants and the venue rotates among four West Coast universities, so it rewards regulars; researchers seeking a large job market or industry contacts would get less from it than from a major national philosophy meeting.

Philosophy conferences usually run casual to smart casual, with academics in comfortable layers and few suits. Hilo is warm and often rainy, so light clothing and a rain layer are practical.
